ACADEMIA DE LIDERAZGO PARA JOVENES: AVANZA
AVANZA is a leadership development program for Latino young adults ages 18-35. Its goal is to form and train young Latinos, with different modules and tracks on leadership skills, and create a group of young adult leaders that will participate in community efforts to better the opportunities for Latinos in the educational, social and professional spheres. It is a program that will be presented by active Latino community leaders and the staff of Educate Ya, so that the young adults can see professional role-models in action and be empowered to create a community that integrates into the mainstream culture, while sharing their own richness and gifts that come from the different countries they represent.
AVANZA es un programa de desarrollo de liderazgo para jóvenes latinos de 18 a 35 años de edad. Su meta es formar y capacitar a jovenes latinos por medio de diferentes modulos y guias de habilidades en liderazgo, y crear un grupo de líderes jóvenes que participen en esfuerzos comunitarios para mejorar las oportunidades de latinos en las esferas educacionales, socials y profesionales. Es un programa que será presentado por Líderes latinos comunitarios activos y los empleados de EducateYa para que los jóvenes puedan ver modelos profesionales en acción y así tener el poder de crear una comunidad que se integre a la cultura en que vivimos, mientras comparten su riqueza y dones que vienen de los diferentes paises que representan.
Educate Ya has developed a curriculum that the board of directors and a group of volunteers are continually evaluating in order to provide a great array of diversity in the leadership formation of young adults. The commitment of the participants will be for one year, during which they will be meeting twice a month to participate in training and hands-on activities, lectures and discussions. These will motivate in them the desire for personal development and educational advancement.
Educate Ya ha desarrollado un currículo que la mesa directiva de Educate Ya y un grupo de voluntarios están continuamente evaluando para ofrecerer una gran cantidad de diversidad en la formación de liderazgo de los jóvenes. El compromiso de los participantes será por un año, durante el cual se reunirán dos veces al mes para participar en actividades de capacitación y trabajo, lecturas y discuciones. Estas motivarán en ellos el deseo de desarrollo personal y avance educacional.
Edúcate Ya, a non-profit Latino Community Based Organization, is now recruiting members for its Latino Young Adult Leadership Council. We are looking for Latinos and Latinas ages 18 to 35 to be part of this exciting opportunity.
The goal of the Latino Young Adult Leadership Council is to encourage Latino young adults to develop their leadership skills while becoming more involved in their communities.
This is a free program run by and for the Latino young adults who meet bi-monthly at the Edúcate Ya office. Council members are required to make a one year commitment.
Responsibilities of council members:- Attend monthly trainings on leadership, personal development, health education and community participation
- Plan community service activities and partner with other organizations
- Fundraise for the Leadership Council
- Report to the Edúcate Ya board members about your activities
- Educate Latinos on a variety of issues you find important
- Plan educational opportunities for the Leadership Council
- Find ways to encourage other Latinos to get involved in their community
